He was predeceased by: his parents, Luis Lopez (Chichi) and Obdulia Lopez (Yuya); and his brothers, Luis Lopez Jr. and Freddy Lopez. He is survived by: his son Edwin "EJ" Ruiz; his grandson Joell Ruiz; and his sisters, Minerva Watson, Sonia Lopez and Margarita Lopez.
