It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evangelina Ortiz of Bridgeport, Connecticut, who passed away on December 14, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Manuel González and Rogelia Moreno; and her siblings, José, Tomás, Luis, Gregorio, Carmen and Joaquina.
She is survived by: her sisters, Virginia and Silvina; her children, José E. Ortiz, Jr. (America), Ángel M. Ortiz, Jorge L. Ortiz (Maggie), Sandra Aponte (Carl) and Vivian Rodriguez; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Jeffrey, Alyce, Sandra, Ángel Jr., Angelique, Branden, Marissa, Marcus, Jackie and Jason; and her close friend Israel Aponte. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, countless friends.
In Lieu of flowers donations could be made to St. Jude's or Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center.
