He is survived by: his wife Maria Odette Moreno Rua; his children, Duarte Rua (Amanda) and Silvia Rua Alfonso (Kevin); his grandchildren, David, Liliana, Jacob, Caleb, Ophelia, Peyton and Delilah; and his siblings, Domingos Rua (Fernanda), Mario G. Rua (Ana), Joao G. Rua (Ana), Ana Rua Rosa (Antonio), Arminda of Cruz, Ana F. Rua Henriques (Fernando) and Joaquina Rua Pereira (Jose Manuel). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
