He was predeceased by: his wife Bessie; his parents, Theodore Phakias and Helen Phakias (Kalivas); and his siblings, Angela Inserra Butcher, Martha Purgatorio, Dora Taromina, Michael Phakias, Emanuel and Christopher Belajonas.

He is survived by: his children, Regina Petrakis (Evan), Christine Sellas (George) and Theodore Phakias (Cathy); his grandchildren, George, Gregory, Christopher Sellas, Jay Thystrup, Stephanie Matarese (Matthew), Elizabeth Petrakis and Cheri Gagner (Keith); his great grandchildren, Thalia, Calliope Matarese, Amelia Gagner, Justin Gagner and Donovan Thystrup; and his sister Bessie Centini (Angelo).
