It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Paterson (Bridgeport, Connecticut), born in Camden, South Carolina, who passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Ruth departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Ruth. Though Ruth may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Boyd and Cora Boyd; her husbands, Billie Cogdell and James Patterson; and her children, Tammy Sharpe and George "Offie" Cogdell.
She is survived by: her children, Wanda "Lynn" Thompson, Keith "Sean" Cogdell, Marge "Maria" Cogdell, Billie and Todd Cogdell. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives.
