It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Susan Rose Stengel of Bridgeport, Connecticut, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on December 31, 2021, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Barbara Marie Nent Stengel and John Stengel; her former husband James Theroux; her daughter Erica (Mark); her husband Frank Dudás; her grandchildren, Danny and Alexa; and her sister-in-law Susan Stengel.

During her time in Jakarta, she also started the Foundation for Excellence in Education whose target was to introduce new teaching methodologies to teachers in Indonesian schools. This foundation was instrumental in producing new children's textbooks as recently as 2018.
