He was predeceased by: his mother Marie "Boot" Newton. He is survived by: his wife Martha Newton; his siblings, Sheila Rodgers and Tyrone Newton; his grandchildren, Lorenzo Darden and Tye'Najia McDaniel-Newton; and his aunt Alice Faye Langley.
