It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gilliam M. Smith of Brooklyn, Connecticut, who passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Gilliam departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Gilliam may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Gilliam leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Zilaitis and Mary Zilaitis (Marshall); and her husband Robert V. Smith. She is survived by: her siblings, Peter Zilaitis of Texas, Joyce Zilaitis of New York and Catherine Sweet of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
