He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley M. Pisowloski (Dugas) and Francis Pisowloski; his stepfather George "Chief" Welch; and his sister Dawn Podziewski. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia M. Leyko; his sons, Daniel of Killingly and Peter of Brooklyn; his sister Robin Izbicki; and his siblings-in-law, Deborah Pressler (Stanley) and Michael Leyko (Tina). He is also survived by several cousins and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a fund will be set up to assist with the restoration of John's beloved race car.
