He is survived by: his wife Rosemary; his children, Rick Chowanec of Columbia, CT and Kathy (Walt Smolenski) of Colchester, CT; and his grandchildren, Megan Messenger (Tim) of Webster, MA, Rachel Kaney (Hogan) of Orangeburg, SC, William Chowanec (Lilly) of Pelzer, SC and Evan Chowanec (Julia) of Lakenheath US Air Force Base in England. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.
