She was predeceased by: her husband Frederick J. Gengler, Sr.; her parents, Henry A. Hawes and Bertha V. Hawes (Smith); and her brother Henry A. Hawes, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Patricia Gengler Hallden of Cromwell and Frederick J. Gengler, Jr. (Nicole) of Oxford; her grandchildren, Danielle, Austin, Noah, Isabella, Annelise and Rhiannon; her siblings, Sharon Minick of Clinton, Gary Hawes of Westbrook and Daniel Hawes (Carol) of Meriden; and her brother-in-law Michael Gengler (Sandra) of Strasburg, VA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and special lifelong friends that were extended family.
