With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Bitgood Sr. of Cromwell, Connecticut, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 1, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. George Bitgood and Muriel Bitgood (Cockburn); his wife Beverly Ann Taylor Bitgood (Synder); his daughter Helen A. Bitgood; and his brothers, George Bitgood, Jr. and Stephen Bitgood.
He is survived by: his sons, Rodney Bitgood (Jessica) of Higganum and Robert E. Bitgood, Jr. (Lori) of Essex; his grandchildren, Crystal Carlson and Rodney Bitgood, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Ella, David and Tyler; and his sisters, Annette "Dewey" Champion of California and Beverly "Jeannie" Williams (Dave) of Salem, CT..
A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Higganum Burr Cemetery (793 Killingworth Rd, Higganum, CT 06441).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
