With sadness, we share the passing of Joan Nelson of Danbury, Connecticut. Joan, born on December 1, 1930, passed away on September 14, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Walters and Letitia Walters (Reehil); and her siblings, Letitia Walter, Harry Walters, Robert Walters and Thomas Walters.
She is survived by: her children, Diane Young of Colchester, CT, Karen Hickernell (David) of Mt. Joy, PA and David Nelson of Irvine, CA; her grandchildren, Matthew Young, Sr. (Rebekah), Laura Young and Jessica Gouker (Jordan); and her great grandchild Graham Young.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Saint Andrew Catholic Church (128 Norwich Ave, Colchester, CT 06415). A burial will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Flushing Cemetery (163-06 46th Ave, Flushing, NY 11358).
