He was predeceased by: his spouse Tarsia Merrill; his parents, Gilbert Merril and Cecilia Genaway (Humiston); his brother Terry Genaway; and his stepfather Leighton Genaway.
He is survived by: his children, Robin, John, Charlene and Marvin Merrill; his stepchildren, Mary Stokes (Rodney), Richard Frederick (Amy), Robert Frederick (Jeanine) and Elizabeth Alexander (Joe); and his sisters, Linda Merrill (David Thacker) and Sue Bernard (Mike). He is also survived by many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
