She was predeceased by: her parents, William Henry Knox and Edna Way Odell Knox of Poughquag; her husband William J. Carey III of John's Roman Catholic Church; her stepmother Blanche Davis Knox; and her brother John Provo.

She is survived by: her friend Earl of Slocum's Cookery; her brother William Knox (Honora) of Myrtle Beach; her sons, William Joseph (Ann) of Hartsdale, Kevin Thomas (Pam) of Sherman, Daniel Patrick (Leslie) of Poughquag and Glenn Christopher of Pawling; and her grandchildren, Bridget, Fiona, Robin, Taylor, Siobhan, Ashley, Daniel, Ava and Wyatt Panzer. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; and the countless friends.
