He was predeceased by: his brother Ronald L'Italien; and his parents, Armand L'Italien and Georgette L'Italien. He is survived by: his wife Dale L'Italien; his sons, Eric Michael L'Italien (Courtney), Michael Ronald L'Italien (Molly) and Paul Colin L'Italien; and his grandchildren, Rhys L'Italien and Colin L'Italien.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that to honor Gil's passion for charitable work, donations be made in his honor to a favorite charity of one's choosing.

He taught so many of us about the importance of innovation and the desire to ‘never give up’ on the science, especially when it comes down to helping patients.
