James Hayes Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Hayes of East Haddam, Connecticut, who passed away on October 3, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though James may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hayes and Dorothy Hayes (Knapp). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Hayes (Simler); his daughters, Ami Lynn Overton of Meriden and Cindy Boucher (Francis) of Plainville; and his siblings, Robert Hayes, Judy Masse of Cheshire and Mary Lou Vasquez of Meriden. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Biega Funeral Home (3 Silver St, Middletown, CT 06457). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the State Veterans' Cemetery.
