He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace William Hawkes and Florence Elisabeth Hurlbut; and his wife Maryanne Hawkes. He is survived by: his sister Sandra Ellen Hawkes (Gail); his stepdaughters, Michele Gertsch (Edward) and Christine Bertini; his grandchildren, Jennifer Damian (Francisco), Jaxon Gertsch and Lauren Gertsch; and his great grandchildren, Aidan, Ariana, Aidrian Damian and Nova Dioro.
