He was predeceased by: his parents, William Weyel and Annie Weyel (Russell); his daughter Jacqueline Weyel; and his siblings, Joan Shea, William Weyel, Betty Weyel, Eleanor Weyel, Russell Weyel Jr. and Helen Weyel.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Weyel Jr. of Mansfield, Lisa Marie Weyel of Branford and Stephen Weyel (Deborah) of Branford; and his niece Colleen Shea of West Haven. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
