He was predeceased by: his wife Mary E. Smith Lipka; his parents, Joseph Lipka and Minnie Paleski Lipka; his son Robert Lipka, Jr.; and his siblings, Frances Navarretta, Joseph Lipka, Katherine Overly and Arthur Lipka.
He is survived by: his children, Cathy Pedini (Nino), Mark Lipka (Katherine) and Ronald Lipka. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
