He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Scala and Elizabeth Scala (Arcucci); his siblings, Ralph Scala and Connie Vitale (Ralph); his nephew John O'Keefe; and his niece Jennifer Laudano.

He is survived by: his son Ralph Scala (Tonya) of Texas; his grandchildren, Anthony and Kiahna Scala; and his siblings, Rosemarie O'Keefe (John) of North Haven, Ronald "Hoot" Scala of East Haven and Louis Scala (Michelle) of Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.
