He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard W. Smith and Esther Smith (Norton); and his sister Janet Loveland. He is survived by: his wife Jean Smith (Raffia); his son Howard M. Smith (Deborah) of South Windsor; his granddaughter Sherry Martin (David) of Enfield; his sister Ellen Wagner of Ohio; and his grandsons, Andrew, Steven Smith, Nicholas Martin and Christopher Martin.
