He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sr. Ryan and Mary Rose Ryan; his son Mark Ryan; and his sons-in-law, Dan Gonzalez and George Horn.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Chevalier of Winooski, VT; and his children, Steve (Diane), Geralyn (Dan Gonzalez), Maureen (Dan Arbogast) and Erin (George Horn). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Little Sisters of the Poor Connecticut in memory of John.
