He was predeceased by: his parents, John Anthony Mitchell II and Margaret Mitchell (Spellman); his former wife Jackie Joyce; his sister Maureen; his brother-in-law John Kelly; his brothers, William and Mark; and his friend Starks.
He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Mitchell (Joyce); his children, Kristine Doran (Michael), Suzanne Thompson and Justin Mitchell Mitchell (Jaime Willow (Waring)); his siblings, Thomas Mitchell (Joanne Mitchell), Monica Cummins (Gary Cummins) and Richard Mitchell (Connie Mitchell); and his grandchildren, Melissa Long (Michael), Andrew Luciano, Allison Doran, Caroline Luciano, Samantha Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Ella Thompson and Christopher Thompson. He is also survived by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home (39 S Benson Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824). A Mass will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Cross Church (750 Tahmore Dr, Fairfield, CT 06825). He was also a devoted volunteer at his church, appreciated the weekly calls that began during COVID via Zoom with his brothers and sister, and always showed an appreciation for the little things in life.
