With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Robert McHugh of Groton, Connecticut, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Robert left this world on October 21, 2025 at the age of 96, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. Though Robert may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Robert touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Patrick and Rose Farr McHugh; and his siblings, John, William, Thomas and Rosemary.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael McHugh of Groton and James McHugh of Manchester. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Byles-Groton Memorial (310 Thames St, Groton, CT 06340). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to either the Salvation Army of New London, or St. Jude's Research Hospital.
