He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harris and Madeline Harris (Neu); and his siblings, William Harris, Madeline Abbott, Helen Clancy and Virginia Marches.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Harris (Tripp); and his sons, James Harris Sr. (Jayne) and Donald R. Harris (Retired NoHPD). He is also survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
