He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Hopkins Marchitto; his siblings, Grace Anastasio, Louise Buemi and Anthony Marchitto; and his parents, Anthony Marchitto and Carmela Vastola Marchitto.
He is survived by: his sons, Ernest R. Marchitto, Jr. (Kelley) of New Haven and Matthew Marchitto (Jennifer) of Hamden; his grandchildren, Joseph, Melissa, Courtney and Casey; and his great grandchildren, James, Chase and Amelia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Porto Funeral Home (830 Jones Hill Rd, West Haven, CT 06516). The military honors was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the St. Lawrence Cemetery (280 Derby Ave, West Haven, CT 06516).
