He was predeceased by: his parents, Janet Mele, and John M. Mele, Sr.; his siblings, Faye Donroe, Joseph and Robert; and his daughter Dawn Gatewood.
He is survived by: his wife Madelyn; and his sons, John III (JT), Kris, Michael (Adria), Paul (Rebecca) and Mark. He is also survived by seven grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the North Haven Funeral Home (36 Washington Ave, North Haven, CT 06473).
