It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nereida Melendez-Rivera of Hamden, Connecticut, who passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Paul Meléndez and Ana Maria Martínez; and her brother José A. Santiago. She is survived by : her husband Roberto Rivera; her children, Carmen A. Vargas, José Angel Vargas of Orlando, FL, Iris N. Santiago of North Haven, Isabel Codero of New Haven, William Ruíz (Luz Sullivan) of Sarasota, FL and Felipe Cordero (Rebecca) of East Haven; and her sisters, Viviana "Lucy" Meléndez (Jesús), Aracelis Meléndez (Archimides Albino) of Orlando, Ana Pabón (Neftali) of New Haven and Iris "Millie" Santiago of Spring Hill, FL. She is also survived by twenty one grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
