He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Abate and Andrianna Abate (DePino); and his brother Andrew Abate. He is survived by: his wife Elaine Marie Abate (Sargolini); his children, Annmarie Aranci (Arnold), Richard J. Abate (Liz) and Joseph G. Abate of Hamden; his sisters, Josephine DiSantis of North Haven and Virginia Remmington of Cheshire; his grandchildren, Anthony Aranci (Cristina), Christopher Aranci, Samantha Abate, Ashlee Abate, Daniel Abate and Leo Rios (Minuette); and his great grandchildren, Gennaro Aranci and Amina Rios. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
