He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Scavone and Dorothy Ceremano Onofrio Scavone; his stepson Jeffrey Guernier; and his siblings, Francis, Donald, Salvatore, Theresa "Dolly" Onofrio Ferla and Corinne "Corky" Onofrio Pepe Milek.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Jasuirkowski Onofrio; his children, Dawn Onofrio Talmadge of Hamden, Peter Onofrio, Jr. (Lisa) of Durham and Nicholas Onofrio (Meaghan) of Durham; and his grandchildren, Brandon of Hamden, Mason of Hamden, Kaden Talmadge of Hamden, Peter III of Durham, Christopher Onofrio of Durham, Logan of Durham, Cameron of Durham, Payton of Durham and Reagan Onofrio of Durham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
