He was predeceased by: his father Walter Thomas Macdowall, Jr.. He is survived by: his mother June Macdowall (Sorensen); his wife Barbara Macdowall (Knoll); his children, Brad Macdowall and Jessica Miali (Brett); his grandsons, Colt and Wyatt Miali; and his brother Thomas Walter Macdowall (Keri). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
