She was predeceased by: her mother Margaret Smith (Bailey); her significant other Jasper Edwards; her father Edward T. Smith Jr.; her siblings, Earl Bailey of Virginia Beach, Daniel Smith of New Milford and Cecelia Johnston (Ray) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her granddaughter Kevonna Edwards; and her brother-in-law Wallace Frasier.
She is survived by: her siblings, Charlotte Smith Frasier of Hamden, Connecticut, Anthony Smith (Bertha) of Columbus, Georgia and Laler Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.; her children, Edward Smith (Connie) of Stuttgart, Germany, Tanya Smith-Long (George) of New Haven, Connecticut, Daniel Bland (Melonie) of Hamden, Connecticut, Jamil Edwards of Atlanta and Kevin Edwards of New Haven, Connecticut.; her grandchildren, Marquis Smith, Valerie McGowan (Timothy), Dionnie Edwards, Tyana McCain, Corinna Brand (Marcel), Janey Fenner Edwards, Brian Salters and Ava Grace Bland; and her great grandchildren, John and Lilly McGowan. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, godchildren and dear friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Revival Church (450 W Todd St, Hamden, CT 06518). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
