He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sauer and Emily Strobel Sauer; and his siblings, Marjorie Sauer Gee, Robert Sauer and Gladys Sauer Hardy.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Barbieri Sauer; his daughters, Donna J. Sauer and Jill Sauer Gavalis; his son-in-law Paul D. Gavalis; his granddaughter Natalie Sauer Gavalis of West Hartford; and his sister Joan Sauer Hauser (John Hauser) of Agawam. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
