He was predeceased by: his parents, Felipe Bergoderi and Eldelmira Bergoderi (Martinez); his wife Connie (Cordero Pietri); and his brother-in-law Antonio Velez (Charles Baranowski). He is survived by: his daughters, Yvette Finlay (William) and Anita Baranowski (Joseph); his siblings, Douglas Bergoderi (JoAnn) and Altagracia "Grace" Velez; his brothers-in-law, Domingo Pietri and Manuel Cordero; his grandchildren, Billy, Robbie, Natalia, Giselle and Tyler; his nieces and nephews, Riley, Gracie, Tony, Xavier, Janet, Blanca, Carmen, Noly and Rita; and his pet Lucky. He is also survived by many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care (1987 E Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 8th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In a final act of generosity, and in keeping with his desire to help others, Luis chose to donate his body to science through the University of Connecticut.
