It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Donald Cess of Litchfield, Connecticut, born in Portland, Oregon, who passed away on March 22, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his wife Patricia. He is survived by : his children, Barbara Moskowitz (Lanny) and Curtis Cess (Pamela Cess); and his grandsons, Ian (Julie), Eric and Colin.

In 2006, he received the Jule G. Charney Award from the Meteorological Society, for his outstanding contributions to our understanding of the science of atmospheric radiation and climate change.
