He is survived by: his children, Joseph Avery Jr. (Kimberly) of North Haven, Kristy Avery-Elder (Shawn) of Madison, Meggan Avery (Will Lebron) of East Haven and Jenna Avery of Old Lyme; his grandchildren, Darren Pulcinella, Nikolas Avery, Elijah Avery and Brianna Elder; his siblings, Diane Rapuano (Richard) of Madison, Karen Avery of East Haven, Gilbert Avery of New Haven, Thomas Avery of New Haven and Richard Avery of New Haven; his son Joe Jr.; and his wife Maureen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (43 Kirkham Ave, East Haven, CT 06512). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
