He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Charles, Gladys Mertens (Tedford), Raymond and Theresa Martel (Lapre); and his mother-in-law Alicia Orozco Quintanilla.
He is survived by: his parents, Dwight Mertens and Claudette Mertens (Martel); and his significant other Sandra Corado Orozco of Mertens.
