He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Henry "Mike" Backer and Elizabeth Alice Scott. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Backer (Mincy); his children, Scott Backer (Jill Backer) of Shelby Township and Janet Ewald (Tom) of Ellington, Connecticut; and his grandchildren, Emily, Kyle Backer, Jake and Natalie Ewald. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends.
