He was predeceased by: his spouse Leonie L. Plante; and his parents, Leo Plante and Elodie Plante. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Plante and William Plante (Mary Jane Plante); and his grandchildren, James Plante and Margaret Plante. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
