He was predeceased by: his parents, William Elliott Gardner and Maxine Zeller; and his siblings, Perry Gardner, Eugene Gardner, Marie Wheeler, Doreen Jenkins and Sherri Phillips.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Barbara Cardillo; his children, Gretchen Mulroy (Kevin) of Cape Cod, MA and Jeremy Gardner of Coventry, CT; his siblings, William Gardner (Elnora), Maxwell Gardner, Dawn Valeriay and Douglas Gardner (Lucille); his former wife Meg Gardner of Meriden, CT; and his grandchildren, Clare, Raelyn, Ben, Cecelia and Martin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home (88 E Main St, Meriden, CT 06450). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Walnut Grove Cemetery (817 Old Colony Rd, Meriden, CT 06451).
