He was predeceased by: his parent Tiburcio Rivera; his brother-in-law Carlin Silva; and his pet Ginger. He is survived by: his wife Agripina Rivera (Rosario); his children, Miriam Batista (Daniel) of Midlothian, VA, Jose Rivera Jr. (Patrick McNabb) of Brooklyn, NY, Maribel Rivera Smith (Kenneth Smith) of Southington, David Rivera (Julie) of Raleigh, NC and Robert M. Rivera (Maite) of Wilmington, NC; and his sisters, Juany Correa (Damian) of Meriden, Susie Silva of Caguas and Puerto Rico. He is also survived by 8 granddaughters and one grandson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jose's memory may be made to the Miller Memorial Community Activity Fund, 360 Broad St. #1, Meriden, CT 06450.
