He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Sylvester Smith and Frances Lillian Johnson Smith; and his siblings, Charles Smith, Margaret Reed, Dorothy Reed and Marjorie Highers.
He is survived by: his wife Lucile Walden; his children, Charlene Linsley (Richard) and Ben Smith (Laurie); and his granddaughters, Amanda Smith (Seth) and Brittany Ladd (Trevor).
