It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Walter J. Cherniak (Meriden, Connecticut), who passed away on August 11, 2021, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Cherniak and Pauline Susczynski Cherniak; his former wife Dorothy Knapp; and his wives, Paula Whitney (George) of Huron, Ohio, Jeanette Kezi (Ernest) of Wallingford and Mary Altobello (Emil) of Meriden.

He is survived by: his wife Gladys Cherniak (Acevedo); his children, Doretta Sackville (James) of Milford, Maryann Lexius (Charles) of Berlin, Walter Jr. Cherniak (Danette) of Woodbine, Richard Cherniak of Meriden, Lorraine Cherniak of Meriden and James Cherniak of Meriden; his grandchildren, Christopher Cherniak of Meriden, Ryan Cherniak (Courtney) of Ann Arbor, Mich., Erin Reeves (Patrick) of Frederick, Sonia Torres of Meriden, Jessica Ouellet (Christopher) of Torrington and Jacob Jackson of Bend, Ore.; and his stepsons, Melqui Nunez (Martha) of Aguada, P. R. and Abner Nunez of Meriden. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
