He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Steinback Sr. and Adelaide Steinback-Howe; his daughter Kim Steinback; his stepfather Shellie Howe; his siblings, Sidney Steinback, Leslie Steinback, Ernest Steinback Jr., Helen Berry and Brenda Underwood; and his parents-in-law, John and Martha Robinson.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Steinback (Robinson); his cousin Judi; his children, Arnold Steinback Jr. of Ladson, SC and Jade Steinback of Middletown, CT; his stepson Everett Deas of New Britain, CT; his grandchildren, Kelly Robotham, Ryan Robotham, Shaquille Steinback and Courtney Steinback; his great grandchild Mya Nicolas; his siblings-in-law, John Robinson (Kathy), Kenneth Robinson and Phylis Wilson (William); and his friend Dennis McCoy. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
