She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Arthur V. McDowell, Jr.; her parents, John E. Collings and Cecilia Collings (Whalen); her son Dr. David McDowell; and her grandson Michael McDowell-Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Dr. Arthur "Bud" McDowell, III (Gail), Steven McDowell (Vicki), Elizabeth "Liz" McDowell and Thomas McDowell (Samantha); and her grandchildren, Steven Jr. McDowell (Ashley), Ryan McDowell-Smith (Allison), Darren McDowell (Robin), Joe McDowell (Sara), Mary-Beth Valk (Dan), Kaylan McDowell-Smith (Michael Byrnes), Thomas McDowell, Meghan McDowell, Jack McDowell (Hope Hutchings), Libby Cap and Ashley Cap. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
