He was predeceased by: his father Furman Richey; and his siblings, Barbara Richey and Columbus Richey. He is survived by: his mother Helen Burts Richey; his wife Ella Richey; his children, James Robert Smith of Greenville, SC, Yolanda "Cie Cie" Williams of Meriden, CT and Jennifer Feagin of Atlanta, GA.; and his niece Linda Chiles. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
