Anna Abbazia Obituary

Anna Abbazia, age 90, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday Oct 11, 2022. She was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Mallozzi) Tucciarone. She is pre-deceased by her husband Edward W. (Abbey) Abbazia and two brothers, Phillip Tucciarone and James Tucciarone.

Anna was born on November 9, 1931, in Stamford, CT. It was there that she met the love of her life, Edward Abbazia over sodas at Red's. She married him and moved to Milford with her young family in the early 1950's. Anna valued family above all else and was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

After graduating from Stamford High School, Anna worked at Pitney Bowes in Stamford. In the early 1970's, she worked with her husband at Abbey's Luncheonette in Point Beach.

Anna was a devout parishioner at St. Agnes Church in Milford. She enjoyed walking on the beach, feeding the birds and loved to puzzle, sew, knit and garden. Anna was an extraordinarily independent woman, admired for her wit and creativity. She was passionate about the Earth's beauty, especially in preserving its resources. In that light, Anna loved finding a deal at the Goodwill, where she will be sorely missed.

Anna is survived by her children, MaryAnn (Stephen Joseph) of Milford, Susan (Frank Marchitto) of West Haven, Nancy (Paul Sicilian) of Grandville, Michigan, and Edward (Colleen Abbazia) of Milford, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at St. Agnes Church (Precious Blood Parish), 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, CT from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. on October 19, 2022. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford.
