He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen McMellon (Marshall) of Milford, CT; his son Charles "Chas" McMellon (Retired Local) of Milford, CT; his grandchildren, Heather and Michele McMellon; his great grandchild Luka Jaser; his daughter Kathleen "Kathy" Reeves (Kevin); and his brother Charles "Chuck" McMellon (Retired Local). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
