He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hayes and Bridget Hayes (Hann) of Milford; and his siblings, Paul Hayes, Dolorose Royak, Mary Matthews and Rev. Edward Hayes.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Hayes (Meghean) of Orange, Mary Hewitt of Milford, Patricia Gargiulo (Michael) of Cheshire, John Hayes, Jr. (Elizabeth Mazzabufi) of Milford and Robert Hayes (Kristen) of Woodbridge; his grandchildren, Charise, Charles, Jennifer (Albert), Michael, Patrick, Brian, Kerry (Jake), Brendan (Sarah), Sean and Clare; and his caregiver Cremilde Diaz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
